The Control4 X4 (OS 4.0) release delivers a major leap forward in smart home technology with a fully redesigned interface that features a sleek new home screen and easier navigation. Homeowners can now build personalized routines and explore a Routine Gallery filled with ready-made automation options—making customization simple and intuitive. The update also deepens Apple integration by enabling in-app Siri voice command setup and introducing AirPlay 2 support for the Triad SA1 amplifier.
Enhanced device management includes support for Lux Lighting and Zigbee 3.0, along with a more secure Device Image Updater for reliable firmware handling. For developers, Composer Pro now includes the Routine Agent for advanced automation, while older tools like io.popen and LuaSocket are deprecated. OS 4.0 also marks the final version to support legacy devices such as Gen 1 & 2 lighting, T3 touchscreens, and EA OnScreen Displays.
