A Clearer View of What's Happening at Home

Home security should make it easier to know what is happening around your property without demanding your constant attention. Since 1992, Roseland-based Total Home Technologies has helped homeowners plan technology that works naturally with their homes, including surveillance cameras, video doorbells, smart locks and integrated entry systems.

Real protection begins with the property itself. The distance from the street, available lighting, entry locations and strength of the network all influence where equipment belongs and what it can accomplish. A camera that shows a vehicle entering the driveway has a different purpose from one that needs to capture useful detail at the front entrance.

Ring offers familiar doorbell and camera options, while Control4 and Savant can bring compatible security devices into a broader smart home experience. Our job is to determine which products belong together, what can be integrated and how the system should work for everyone in the household.

When Your Alarm System Stops Working Properly

A burglar alram system can appear to be working even when important parts of it have stopped doing their jobs. A camera may no longer record, nighttime images become difficult to recognize or a video doorbell may take too long to connect. Total Home finds the source of the problem, even in systems installed by other companies, and keeps equipment that's still doing its job.

Problems Worth a Call

✓ Cameras that are offline or keep dropping out

✓ Night footage you cannot make out

✓ A recorder that stopped saving video

✓ A doorbell or door station that lags

✓ App access still tied to a former installer

✓ A gate or intercom that stopped responding

See Who Is at the Door

See and speak with visitors at your front door before opening it, whether you're upstairs with family, working in another room or checking in while you're away from the house.

Check the Property

Check the driveway, side entrances and yard from your phone, with cameras positioned around the areas you really need to see instead of adding more equipment for its own sake.

Simpler Guest Access

Let family, guests, or a trusted contractor through the right entrance with compatible smart locks and entry controls, without handing out keys or changing your daily routine.

One Familiar Place

With compatible cameras, locks and door stations connected to Control4 or Savant, you can check the door and respond to visitors through controls your household already knows.

Featured Technology Partners

The right equipment depends on the property and how the household uses it. Some products provide camera views and visitor communication, while others bring compatible devices into the home's existing controls. Total Home selects technology based on what works together, not simply the name on the box.

Control4 brings compatible cameras, door stations and smart locks into the controls your family already uses, so checking an entrance feels like part of your everyday routine.

Savant manufacturer logo

Savant connects supported entry systems, camera views and notifications with the home's wider controls, making it easier to check who has arrived and respond in a natural way.

Ring manufacturer logo

Ring video doorbells and cameras help you see who is at the entrance, speak with visitors and check live feeds on your phone, with alerts tailored to activity around the home.

Designed To Keep You Informed While Your Away From Home

Most projects combine several of the areas below. Planned together, they share one network, one app and one team to call.

Surveillance Cameras

A camera overlooking a long driveway has a different job from one covering the front entrance. Distance, viewing angles, changing light and landscaping all affect what the camera can capture. Total Home considers those conditions before selecting locations and equipment, so coverage is based on what homeowners actually need to see rather than simply installing more cameras.

What We Plan For

✓ Coverage for driveways, entrances and outdoor areas

✓ Camera positioning for useful day and nighttime views

✓ Recording and storage suited to your needs

✓ Convenient access to live and recorded footage

Video Doorbells and Smart Locks

The front door handles a surprising amount of daily activity. Family members come and go, deliveries arrive and visitors sometimes need access when nobody is nearby. A video doorbell lets you see and speak with someone at the entrance, while a compatible smart lock can make it easier to manage access without handing out physical keys.

Everyday Convenience

✓ See and speak with visitors before opening the door

✓ Provide individual access codes where supported

✓ Check compatible lock status from your phone

✓ Choose hardware that suits the entrance and its design

Gates and Intercoms

A visitor arriving at the end of a long driveway presents a different situation from someone standing at the front door. Homeowners need to know who has arrived, communicate clearly and decide whether to open the entrance without making an unnecessary trip outside. Gates and intercoms can make that exchange much more convenient when the equipment is planned around the property.

Thoughtful Entry Planning

✓ Video communication at driveway and pedestrian gates

✓ Clear audio between the entrance and residence

✓ Convenient gate operation with compatible equipment

✓ Wiring and connectivity planned for the property

Alarm System Integration

A connected home becomes more useful when its different systems can work together. With compatible equipment, Control4 and Savant can bring camera views, door stations and entry controls into the same interface homeowners already use for lighting, entertainment and other everyday functions. This can make checking an entrance or responding to a visitor feel like a natural part of using the house.

Connected Where It Makes Sense

✓ Camera views on touchscreens and mobile devices

✓ Entry controls coordinated with existing automation

✓ Access permissions suited to household members

✓ Integration options reviewed before equipment is selected

Remote Viewing and Alerts

Whether you're away for the evening or traveling for several days, being able to check on the house should be straightforward. Remote viewing can provide a quick look at the driveway, entrances and other important areas without requiring someone to be home. The experience becomes more useful when the right notifications bring meaningful activity to your attention rather than every passing movement.

Useful Information Without the Distractions

✓ Remote access to compatible live camera views

✓ Notifications tailored to important activity

✓ Convenient review of available recorded footage

✓ Network planning that supports dependable connections

How We Help Secure Your Home

A good installation starts with understanding the property, not choosing products. We review what matters to your household, plan how the equipment will work together and make sure everyone knows how to use it.

Discovery

We walk your property to review entrances, sight lines and existing equipment, then learn what you want to see, who needs access and where the current system is falling short.

Design

Camera placements, recording, entry hardware and network coverage shape the plan. We explain what works with what you have, what can remain and what would improve performance.

Installation

We install and configure the equipment, connect compatible controls and program the camera views and alerts. Every function is tested with you, so everyone knows how it works.

Home Security Questions

Do you provide alarm monitoring?
Monitoring is part of the planning conversation. We look at the alarm equipment in place, how cameras and alerts should connect to it, and which monitoring arrangement fits, then explain what applies to your property.

Do cameras need to be wired?
Wired cameras are the most reliable choice, and wiring is easiest during construction. In finished houses, cable can often follow attics and basements, and wireless options fill in where a wire cannot reach.

How long is footage kept?

That depends on the recorder or storage plan, the number of cameras and the recording settings. Retention is chosen during design so it fits how far back you want to look.

Will the cameras record if the internet goes down?

Cameras that record to a local recorder keep recording during an internet outage, as long as they have power. Remote viewing and phone alerts return once the connection is back.

Will my cameras see into a neighbor's yard?
Cameras are aimed at your own property, and views are adjusted at installation so they stay focused on your driveway, doors and yard.

How do I start?

Tell us which doors, gates and areas matter most. Start the Conversation or call (877) 550-5150.

See the Property Clearly

One doorbell or a full camera and gate plan, it starts with a look at the property and the network. Share what you want to see and control, and the next step is a conversation, online or by phone.
